Welcome to the Blackwall Reach Regeneration Project website.
This website is designed to provide all the information you need about the award winning regeneration scheme being undertaken by Swan Housing Association in conjunction with its development Partners, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and the Greater London Authority that will see the complete regeneration of the Robin Hood Gardens estate and the surrounding area.
The development partners are working closely with the local community to deliver a regeneration which maintains and grows the existing close knit community.
Winner of the Award for Planning for Housing Growth at the Planning Awards 2015 this regeneration will see the replacement of 252 homes with over 1500 homes, new community facilities, commercial units, improved public realm, a replacement mosque and an extended local school.
As the Mayor of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs commented when the scheme won at the 2015 Awards:
“The scope of Blackwall Reach is very ambitious and will help us address the chronic shortage of good quality housing that we face in the Borough”.
It is expected that the regeneration, when complete, will significantly contribute to the delivery of new, affordable homes in the capital by bringing about
- Over 1500 homes: 52% of which will be affordable housing and 80% of these will be at social rent;
- 28% of the new homes will be larger family homes (3 beds+) and 80% of these larger homes will be affordable; and
- much needed new, good quality homes that are comfortable, secure and more energy efficient.
